5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |

6 | 6 | | citizens of Jacksboro in mourning the loss of Anita Palmer |
---|
7 | 7 | | Hackley, who died on January 6, 2017, at the age of 71; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Anita Palmer Hackley was born on July 29, 1945, in |
---|
9 | 9 | | Altus, Oklahoma, to Wallace William Smith and Lottie Ann Smith; and |
---|
10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, She married Johnny T. Palmer, who passed away in |
---|
11 | 11 | | 2008; she married John Hackley on August 17, 2013, in Jacksboro, |
---|
12 | 12 | | where they made their home; she leaves behind three sons, a |
---|
13 | 13 | | daughter, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and |
---|
14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Hackley was retired from her work in the |
---|
15 | 15 | | field of education; she was a former president of the Olney |
---|
16 | 16 | | Retired Teachers Association and vice-president of District IX |
---|
17 | 17 | | Retired Teachers Association, and she was on the board of |
---|
18 | 18 | | directors of the Texas Teacher Retirement System; a leader in the |
---|
19 | 19 | | community, she served as president of the Hamilton Hospital |
---|
20 | 20 | | Foundation and as a consumer member of the Texas State Board of |
---|
21 | 21 | | Vocational Nursing; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, A highly talented artist, Mrs. Hackley was a |
---|
23 | 23 | | special selected member of Women Artists of the West, a member of |
---|
24 | 24 | | the National Association of Oil and Acrylic Painters, and a |
---|
25 | 25 | | member of the American Association of Equine Artists; and |
---|
26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, A faithful Christian, Anita was an active member |
---|
27 | 27 | | of The Parish of Jacksboro and was director of the Faith |
---|
28 | 28 | | Community Hospital Foundation of Jacksboro; and |
---|
29 | 29 | | WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity, |
---|
30 | 30 | | Anita gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her wisdom, |
---|
31 | 31 | | warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who |
---|
32 | 32 | | knew her; and |
---|
33 | 33 | | WHEREAS, Anita Hackley was a devoted wife, mother, and |
---|
34 | 34 | | grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured |
---|
35 | 35 | | forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it |
---|
36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
---|
37 | 37 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
38 | 38 | | family of Anita Palmer Hackley; and, be it further |
---|
39 | 39 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
---|
40 | 40 | | her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
---|
41 | 41 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
