44 Anita Palmer Hackley
55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
66 citizens of Jacksboro in mourning the loss of Anita Palmer
77 Hackley, who died on January 6, 2017, at the age of 71; and
88 WHEREAS, Anita Palmer Hackley was born on July 29, 1945, in
99 Altus, Oklahoma, to Wallace William Smith and Lottie Ann Smith; and
1010 WHEREAS, She married Johnny T. Palmer, who passed away in
1111 2008; she married John Hackley on August 17, 2013, in Jacksboro,
1212 where they made their home; she leaves behind three sons, a
1313 daughter, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and
1414 WHEREAS, Mrs. Hackley was retired from her work in the
1515 field of education; she was a former president of the Olney
1616 Retired Teachers Association and vice-president of District IX
1717 Retired Teachers Association, and she was on the board of
1818 directors of the Texas Teacher Retirement System; a leader in the
1919 community, she served as president of the Hamilton Hospital
2020 Foundation and as a consumer member of the Texas State Board of
2121 Vocational Nursing; and
2222 WHEREAS, A highly talented artist, Mrs. Hackley was a
2323 special selected member of Women Artists of the West, a member of
2424 the National Association of Oil and Acrylic Painters, and a
2525 member of the American Association of Equine Artists; and
2626 WHEREAS, A faithful Christian, Anita was an active member
2727 of The Parish of Jacksboro and was director of the Faith
2828 Community Hospital Foundation of Jacksboro; and
2929 WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, and generosity,
3030 Anita gave unselfishly of her time to others, and her wisdom,
3131 warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who
3232 knew her; and
3333 WHEREAS, Anita Hackley was a devoted wife, mother, and
3434 grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured
3535 forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
3636 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
3737 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
3838 family of Anita Palmer Hackley; and, be it further
3939 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
4040 her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
4141 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
4242 memory of Anita Palmer Hackley.
