| 8 | 8 | | Houston in 1975; the organization aims to encourage women and |

| 9 | 9 | | young people to strive for excellence in their academic pursuits, |

| 10 | 10 | | maintain high ethical standards, and make lasting contributions |

| 11 | 11 | | in their chosen career fields; and |

| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, The theme of this year's scholarship breakfast is |

| 13 | 13 | | "Aspiring for the Silver Lining"; the 2017 event is shining the |

| 14 | 14 | | spotlight on high school students, college students, and young |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | professionals who are aspiring to do great things and be agents |

| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, This year's honorees are Johnneisha J. Alvis, |

| 18 | 18 | | Matthew Blue, Antoinette Bradley, Ashley Branch, Kyron Eamon |

| 19 | 19 | | Guine, Mariesha Keys, Kyle Mackey, Ja'Lynn Manson, Sharda |

| 20 | 20 | | Selman, Kirk Ward, and Brianna Wyatt; they are exemplary young |

| 21 | 21 | | citizens who are dedicated to their work for the betterment of |

| 22 | 22 | | their communities; now, therefore, be it |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
