SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 321 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Ronald H. Hufford, who is retiring as the executive director of the Texas Forestry Association after 33 years of distinguished leadership; and WHEREAS, Ron Hufford earned a bachelor of science degree in forestry from Southern Illinois University in 1971; he served with distinction for four years as an officer and a pilot in the United States Air Force, and he initiated his civilian career in 1975 by joining the Southern Forest Products Association in Louisiana; and WHEREAS, Mr. Hufford began his tenure as the executive director of the Texas Forestry Association in 1984; under his exemplary leadership, the association has created the means through which the public and the forest industry can work together effectively and can communicate with legislators on issues relating to forestry in Texas; and WHEREAS, Mr. Hufford has guided efforts to strengthen the association's partnership with the Texas Forest Service, as well as with many other state agencies, to ensure that forestry is a viable and valuable resource in Texas long into the future; and WHEREAS, A highly respected leader in his field, Mr. Hufford has served in leadership roles for numerous professional associations; in 2016, the Texas Forestry Association paid tribute to his invaluable contributions to Texas forestry by naming its new headquarters in his honor; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby commend Ronald H. Hufford on his outstanding career and extend to him best wishes in all his future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
