| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | join Texans across the state in celebrating March 1, 2017, as |

| 4 | 4 | | United Way Day; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, United Way chapters work with local community |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | organizations to find creative solutions to the various problems |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | facing Texans each day; there are more than 70 United Way |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | organizations across the state that mobilize thousands of |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | volunteers each year; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, United Way organizations play a vital role in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | supporting a wide range of causes, including education, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | financial stability, and 2-1-1 information service; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The United Way draws on the generosity and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | volunteerism of communities to reinvest the hundreds of millions |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | of dollars in contributions that make for measurable change and a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | profound difference in the lives of countless people; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The United Way brings people together for the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | common good of communities throughout the world, and it is truly |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | fitting that a day be set aside to pay tribute to this exceptional |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | organization for its invaluable contributions to our state; now, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, hereby commend the United Way staff, volunteers, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | and donors on their commitment to strengthening Texas |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | communities and extend to all best wishes for a productive and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | memorable United Way Day; and, be it further |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
