SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 334
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the League City Music Festival and Bar-B-Q Cook-Off;
and
WHEREAS, Sanctioned by the International Barbeque Cookers
Association as one of the organization's annual state
championship cook-offs, this fund-raising event is hosted by
the League City Lions Club; the annual event is held on a weekend
in May and has served as a financial resource for the club's
charitable initiatives for more than 60 years; and
WHEREAS, Festival guests enjoy local arts and crafts, live
entertainment, and the delicious wares of skilled chefs who are
competing in the cook-off; attractions are added to the festival
each year, and proceeds from the event help to support local
programs that provide specialized services for children and
seniors; and
WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their charitable initiatives,
as well as their enjoyment of community gatherings; it is hoped
that many will attend the League City Music Festival and Bar-B-Q
Cook-Off, as this spirited competition is organized on behalf of
truly worthy causes; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby commend the League City Lions Club for
sponsoring the annual League City Music Festival and Bar-B-Q
Cook-Off and extend to all participants best wishes for a
successful event; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the League City Lions Club as an expression of esteem from the
Texas Senate.
