| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Sanctioned by the International Barbeque Cookers |

| 6 | 6 | | Association as one of the organization's annual state |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | championship cook-offs, this fund-raising event is hosted by |

| 8 | 8 | | the League City Lions Club; the annual event is held on a weekend |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | in May and has served as a financial resource for the club's |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | charitable initiatives for more than 60 years; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Festival guests enjoy local arts and crafts, live |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | entertainment, and the delicious wares of skilled chefs who are |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | competing in the cook-off; attractions are added to the festival |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | each year, and proceeds from the event help to support local |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | programs that provide specialized services for children and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | seniors; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Texans are noted for their charitable initiatives, |

| 18 | 18 | | as well as their enjoyment of community gatherings; it is hoped |

| 19 | 19 | | that many will attend the League City Music Festival and Bar-B-Q |

| 20 | 20 | | Cook-Off, as this spirited competition is organized on behalf of |

| 21 | 21 | | truly worthy causes; now, therefore, be it |

| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |

| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, hereby commend the League City Lions Club for |

| 24 | 24 | | sponsoring the annual League City Music Festival and Bar-B-Q |

| 25 | 25 | | Cook-Off and extend to all participants best wishes for a |
