SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 338 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Frutoso M. Gomez Jr., who is retiring as chief appraiser for the Cameron Appraisal District after 35 years of exemplary service with the organization; and WHEREAS, Frutoso Gomez joined the Cameron Appraisal District in 1982; he has served the organization as a director of real estate and as an area manager, and he is retiring after 14 years of service as chief appraiser for the district; and WHEREAS, Mr. Gomez was born to the late Frutoso and Odilia Gomez, and he grew up in Los Indios, Texas, with his nine siblings; they were a family of migrant workers who traveled to Ohio each spring and summer to work in the fields; he and his wife, Isabel, have been blessed with five children and numerous grandchildren; and WHEREAS, Mr. Gomez attended Texas Southmost College in Brownsville; he became accredited as a registered professional appraiser in 1985, a certified tax administrator in 1992, and a certified chief appraiser in 2004; and WHEREAS, A distinguished member of his community, Mr. Gomez has been active in numerous state and local professional organizations, and he volunteers his time to several charitable and civic groups; he is respected and admired by his colleagues, and his presence at the Cameron Appraisal District will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby commend Frutoso M. Gomez Jr. on his exemplary career and his many contributions to the community and extend to him best wishes in all his future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
