| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Pan American Round Tables of Texas on the occasion |

| 4 | 4 | | of the organization's 100th anniversary; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Pan American Round Table Movement began in |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | 1916 as an endeavor of Florence Terry Griswold; a truly |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | compassionate Texan, she was determined to help the women and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | children who had fled Mexico and had sought refuge from the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | perils of revolution by making their way to San Antonio; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Pan Americanism was born as a result of the Monroe |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Doctrine, which was issued to protect citizens of the Western |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Hemisphere; the Pan American Round Table was created with a |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | mission to foster peace, mutual understanding, knowledge, and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | friendship among all the people of the Western Hemisphere; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Today, the Pan American Round Tables of Texas has |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | 20 chapters across the state; members actively promote the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | international organization's mission of service by awarding |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | local and statewide scholarships, and over the years, these |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | scholarships have made a difference in the lives of countless |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | individuals; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, The Pan American Round Table has a special place |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | in our state's unique history, and under the exemplary leadership |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | of state director Isabel Vezzetti, the Texas chapters have |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | contributed greatly to the international organization's success; |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commend all the members of the Pan American |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Round Tables of Texas for their outstanding work promoting peace |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | and mutual understanding among the people of the Western |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Hemisphere and extend to them best wishes on the occasion of the |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | organization's 100th anniversary; and, be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this |

| 33 | 33 | | organization as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
