| 3 | 3 | | recognize the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Crusaders |

| 4 | 4 | | football team, which won the 2016 National Collegiate Athletic |

| 5 | 5 | | Association Division III national championship; and |

| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Crusaders won the school's first national |

| 7 | 7 | | championship in football by defeating the University of |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Wisconsin Oshkosh Titans by a score of 10-7 at the Amos Alonzo |

| 9 | 9 | | Stagg Bowl in Salem, Virginia; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, These student-athletes demonstrated great talent |

| 11 | 11 | | and perseverance over the course of the year and finished the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | season with a 15-0 record that established new school and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | American Southwest Conference football records for single-season |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | victories; and |

| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Under the superior leadership and expertise of |

| 16 | 16 | | Coach Pete Fredenburg, the 2016 American Football Coaches |

| 17 | 17 | | Association Division III Coach of the Year, the Crusaders |

| 18 | 18 | | developed exceptional teamwork and discipline; and |

| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and the |

| 20 | 20 | | people of Belton are proud of the Crusaders for their hard work, |

| 21 | 21 | | their impressive skills, and their fine sportsmanship; now, |

| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |

| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby commend the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor |

| 26 | 26 | | congratulations to the coaches and players on winning the 2016 |
