| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The annual Brenham Maifest is taking place May 6 |

| 3 | 3 | | and 7, 2017, and the spirited celebration promises to be great |

| 4 | 4 | | fun for all who attend; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, First celebrated in 1881, this event is one of the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | oldest German spring festivals in the South; the celebration |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | highlights the rich cultural heritage of Brenham and Washington |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | County; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The two-day event includes a parade and numerous |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | other festivities and features the much-awaited coronation of |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the junior and senior kings and queens; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, The outstanding young Texans who take part in the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Brenham Maifest are part of an enduring Washington County |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | tradition that provides hours of enjoyment and entertainment for |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | residents and visitors alike; all those associated with the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | planning and preparation of the event can indeed take pride in |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | their contributions to the community; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the 2017 Brenham Maifest and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | honor the 2017 junior and senior royal court; and, be it further |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared as a |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | memento of this special celebration. |
