5 | 5 | | initiatives of lasting benefit to the community; and |

6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Headquartered in Houston, CITGO Texas Operations |

7 | 7 | | boasts an 890-acre facility in Corpus Christi that refines |
---|
8 | 8 | | 157,000 barrels of petroleum per day, provides over 1,050 Texans |
---|
9 | 9 | | with high-paying jobs, and generates an average of $345 million a |
---|
10 | 10 | | year in economic activity; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, CITGO's community outreach efforts include STEM |
---|
12 | 12 | | education mentoring programs such as the award-winning CITGO |
---|
13 | 13 | | Innovation Academy at Foy H. Moody High School in Corpus Christi, |
---|
14 | 14 | | as well as an endowment fund that offers scholarships and financial |
---|
15 | 15 | | support to students; the company also established coastal |
---|
16 | 16 | | conservation and restoration initiatives in response to the |
---|
17 | 17 | | environmental damage caused by Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, and |
---|
18 | 18 | | it provides heating oil to families in need across 25 states; and |

19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The company's health and wellness efforts include |

20 | 20 | | transforming a former hotel in Corpus Christi into Charlie's |
---|
21 | 21 | | Place, a leading drug rehabilitation facility; it has provided |

22 | 22 | | generous support to the Special Olympics for more than 15 years, |

24 | 24 | | million for the Muscular Dystrophy Association; and |

25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Of all the factors that have furthered the success |

26 | 26 | | of CITGO Texas Operations, none have been more critical than the |

27 | 27 | | company's dedicated employees across the state and its community |
---|
28 | 28 | | partners, all of whom have helped make Texas a great place to do |

30 | 30 | | WHEREAS, Throughout its notable history, CITGO Texas |

31 | 31 | | Operations has made a substantial contribution to the Texas |

32 | 32 | | economy while giving back to the community in myriad ways; now, |
