| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Theodore Roosevelt IV, who is the featured speaker at a |

| 4 | 4 | | dinner supporting the Lake Wichita Revitalization Project on |

| 5 | 5 | | March 16, 2017; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Theodore Roosevelt IV is a renowned conservationist, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | an internationally recognized banker, and a United States Navy Seal |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | veteran of the Vietnam War; he is the great-grandson of President |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Theodore Roosevelt, who played a leading role in launching the |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | country's conservationist movement; by establishing parks and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | reserves, the president conserved nearly 230 million acres of land, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | thus preserving the nation's natural resources for the enjoyment |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and benefit of future generations; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Roosevelt is a graduate of the Harvard |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Business School and a managing director at Barclays in New York |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | City; he serves as chair of the Center for Climate and Energy |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Solutions, is a member of the Governing Council of the Wilderness |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Society, and is a trustee of the American Museum of Natural |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | History; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, The Lake Wichita Revitalization Project was |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | created to address the significant ecological issues affecting |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Lake Wichita, which has surpassed its expected 100-year life |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | span; this grassroots conservation organization can serve as a |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | valuable example to conservation and reservoir rehabilitation |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | efforts across the nation; and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Roosevelt has been an exemplary steward of his |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | family's storied conservationist legacy, and it is truly fitting |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | that he receive special recognition for his outstanding work on |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | behalf of our country; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Legislature, hereby commend Theodore Roosevelt IV on his |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | commitment to protecting the nation's priceless natural resources |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | endeavors; and, be it further |

| 35 | 35 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
