11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 405
22 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
33 recognize Theodore Roosevelt IV, who is the featured speaker at a
44 dinner supporting the Lake Wichita Revitalization Project on
55 March 16, 2017; and
66 WHEREAS, Theodore Roosevelt IV is a renowned conservationist,
77 an internationally recognized banker, and a United States Navy Seal
88 veteran of the Vietnam War; he is the great-grandson of President
99 Theodore Roosevelt, who played a leading role in launching the
1010 country's conservationist movement; by establishing parks and
1111 reserves, the president conserved nearly 230 million acres of land,
1212 thus preserving the nation's natural resources for the enjoyment
1313 and benefit of future generations; and
1414 WHEREAS, Mr. Roosevelt is a graduate of the Harvard
1515 Business School and a managing director at Barclays in New York
1616 City; he serves as chair of the Center for Climate and Energy
1717 Solutions, is a member of the Governing Council of the Wilderness
1818 Society, and is a trustee of the American Museum of Natural
1919 History; and
2020 WHEREAS, The Lake Wichita Revitalization Project was
2121 created to address the significant ecological issues affecting
2222 Lake Wichita, which has surpassed its expected 100-year life
2323 span; this grassroots conservation organization can serve as a
2424 valuable example to conservation and reservoir rehabilitation
2525 efforts across the nation; and
2626 WHEREAS, Mr. Roosevelt has been an exemplary steward of his
2727 family's storied conservationist legacy, and it is truly fitting
2828 that he receive special recognition for his outstanding work on
2929 behalf of our country; now, therefore, be it
3030 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
3131 Legislature, hereby commend Theodore Roosevelt IV on his
3232 commitment to protecting the nation's priceless natural resources
3333 and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his
3434 endeavors; and, be it further
3535 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3636 him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
