SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 413 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Lieutenant Fidel Jasso, who is retiring after 35 years of outstanding service with the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office; and WHEREAS, Lieutenant Jasso joined the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office in October of 1981; over the course of his law enforcement career with the county, he has served with distinction in a variety of divisions, including patrol, criminal investigations, communications, the training academy, civil, and warrants; and WHEREAS, Talented and resourceful, he has handled the unique challenges of law enforcement duty with courage and a deep commitment to public service and the safety of his community; he was instrumental in the creation of the Hidalgo County Crime Stoppers program and in obtaining vital federal funding for the addition of 49 deputy sheriff positions; and WHEREAS, A graduate of Pan American University, he has received exceptional support, encouragement, and love from his wife, Ester Herrera, and his children, Laura and Joshua; and WHEREAS, An exemplary peace officer, he is respected and admired by his colleagues and the public alike, and his presence at the Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby commend Lieutenant Fidel Jasso on his exceptional service to the people of Hidalgo County and extend to him best wishes for continued success in all his endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
