11 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 419
22 WHEREAS, George A. Faber is retiring as the director of
33 visual and performing arts for the Tyler Independent School
44 District in August 2017, drawing to a close a notable career in
55 education that has spanned three and a half decades; and
66 WHEREAS, A graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University,
77 Mr. Faber earned his bachelor's degree in music in 1980 and his
88 master's degree in educational leadership and administration in
99 1991; he joined Tyler Independent School District as band
1010 director at Hubbard Middle School in 1982, and a decade later, he
1111 became Hubbard's assistant principal; from 1994 to 2003, he
1212 served as principal of Dogan Middle School; and
1313 WHEREAS, Mr. Faber was appointed the district's director
1414 of visual and performing arts in 2003, and throughout his
1515 exemplary 14-year tenure, the district has made great strides in
1616 developingandmaintainingstrongartsprogramsoneverycampus;and
1717 WHEREAS, In addition to his successful career as an
1818 educator, Mr. Faber is also a jazz pianist; he fronts his own
1919 band, George Faber and Friends, which sometimes includes his
2020 wife, Anita, who sings, and his son, George Faber III, who plays
2121 drums; in addition, he is the Sunday morning organist for Green
2222 Acres Baptist Church in Tyler; and
2323 WHEREAS, George Faber's commitment to the highest
2424 standards of his profession has greatly benefited the students of
2525 Tyler Independent School District and earned him the respect and
2626 admiration of his fellow educators, and he may indeed reflect
2727 with pride on a career well spent as he embarks on the next
2828 exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it
2929 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
3030 Legislature, hereby congratulate George A. Faber on his
3131 retirement from Tyler Independent School District and extend to
3232 him sincere best wishes for continued happiness and fulfillment;
3333 and, be it further
3434 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3535 Mr. Faber as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
