| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, George A. Faber is retiring as the director of |

| 3 | 3 | | visual and performing arts for the Tyler Independent School |

| 4 | 4 | | District in August 2017, drawing to a close a notable career in |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | education that has spanned three and a half decades; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, A graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Mr. Faber earned his bachelor's degree in music in 1980 and his |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | master's degree in educational leadership and administration in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | 1991; he joined Tyler Independent School District as band |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | director at Hubbard Middle School in 1982, and a decade later, he |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | became Hubbard's assistant principal; from 1994 to 2003, he |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | served as principal of Dogan Middle School; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Faber was appointed the district's director |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | of visual and performing arts in 2003, and throughout his |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | exemplary 14-year tenure, the district has made great strides in |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | developingandmaintainingstrongartsprogramsoneverycampus;and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, In addition to his successful career as an |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | educator, Mr. Faber is also a jazz pianist; he fronts his own |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | band, George Faber and Friends, which sometimes includes his |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | wife, Anita, who sings, and his son, George Faber III, who plays |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | drums; in addition, he is the Sunday morning organist for Green |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Acres Baptist Church in Tyler; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, George Faber's commitment to the highest |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | standards of his profession has greatly benefited the students of |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Tyler Independent School District and earned him the respect and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | admiration of his fellow educators, and he may indeed reflect |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | with pride on a career well spent as he embarks on the next |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | exciting chapter of his life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate George A. Faber on his |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | retirement from Tyler Independent School District and extend to |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | him sincere best wishes for continued happiness and fulfillment; |
