                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 427
 In Memory
 of
 Lisa Gonzales Ortiz
 WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Lisa
 Gonzales Ortiz of San Antonio, who passed away on January 31,
 2017, at the age of 44; and
 WHEREAS, The daughter of Rudy and Martha Gonzales, the
 former Lisa Gonzales was born on September 11, 1972, in San
 Antonio; she attended South San Antonio High School and went on
 to earn her degree at Concordia University in Austin; and
 WHEREAS, Lisa Ortiz enjoyed a rewarding career with the
 Texas Department of Family and Protective Services that spanned
 nearly two decades; she joined the agency in 1997 as a member of
 the Child Protective Services investigation team; she later
 worked in child care licensing but returned to Child Protective
 Services in 2006 as the Santa Rosa Children's Hospital liaison;
 in recognition of her hard work and dedication, she was promoted
 to family group decision making specialist and eventually to
 field training supervisor; and
 WHEREAS, Above all else, Lisa Ortiz was devoted to her two
 daughters, Mia and Madelyn, and to her husband, Jim Ortiz, whom
 she married in 2010; and
 WHEREAS, Lisa Ortiz touched countless lives with her
 strength, compassion, and ever-present smile, and all those who
 were fortunate enough to share in her warmth and affection will
 forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
 Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Lisa Gonzales
 Ortiz and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family
 and to her many friends; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 her family and that when the Texas Senate adjourns this day, it do
 so in memory of Lisa Gonzales Ortiz.
