| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Family and friends are mourning the loss of Lisa |

| 6 | 6 | | Gonzales Ortiz of San Antonio, who passed away on January 31, |

| 7 | 7 | | 2017, at the age of 44; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, The daughter of Rudy and Martha Gonzales, the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | former Lisa Gonzales was born on September 11, 1972, in San |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | Antonio; she attended South San Antonio High School and went on |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | to earn her degree at Concordia University in Austin; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Lisa Ortiz enjoyed a rewarding career with the |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Texas Department of Family and Protective Services that spanned |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | nearly two decades; she joined the agency in 1997 as a member of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the Child Protective Services investigation team; she later |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | worked in child care licensing but returned to Child Protective |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | Services in 2006 as the Santa Rosa Children's Hospital liaison; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | in recognition of her hard work and dedication, she was promoted |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | to family group decision making specialist and eventually to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | field training supervisor; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Above all else, Lisa Ortiz was devoted to her two |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | daughters, Mia and Madelyn, and to her husband, Jim Ortiz, whom |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | she married in 2010; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Lisa Ortiz touched countless lives with her |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | strength, compassion, and ever-present smile, and all those who |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | were fortunate enough to share in her warmth and affection will |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | forever hold her close in their hearts; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Lisa Gonzales |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Ortiz and extend sincere condolences to the members of her family |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | and to her many friends; and, be it further |

| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
