| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Alex Graves, Tex "T." Mitchell IV, Aaron Walls, and |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | Jake Yepez for their quick thinking and decisive action in saving |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | the life of their scout leader, Tex Mitchell III; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Alex, T., Aaron, and Jake are members of Boy Scout |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Troop 410 of Austin; they were aboard a 24-foot keelboat under |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | the direction of Mr. Mitchell and were participating in a racing |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | event sponsored by the Lake Belton Yacht Club; one of the boys had |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | never crewed before, and the other three had only sailed under |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | adult supervision; and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, During the race, Mr. Mitchell suddenly fell ill |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | and gradually became incapacitated; Aaron and Jake began |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | administering first aid while T. and Alex trimmed the sails and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | engaged the outboard motor to maneuver the boat back toward the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | marina; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Upon reaching the marina, the boys discovered |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | that emergency responders were already en route to the location; |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the group was taken to Scott and White Hospital in Temple, where |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | it was discovered that Mr. Mitchell had suffered a major heart |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | attack and required the placement of stents in two of his |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | coronary arteries; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Thanks to the quick actions of these four young |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | men, Mr. Mitchell suffered no lasting heart damage and is |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | expected to make a full recovery; they are truly deserving of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | special recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Legislature, hereby commend Alex Graves, Tex "T." Mitchell IV, |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Aaron Walls, and Jake Yepez on their courage and their composure |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | under pressure while saving Mr. Mitchell's life and express its |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | admiration for their decisive actions; and, be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | these outstanding young men as an expression of esteem from the |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Texas Senate. |
