SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 434 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize Martha Haydon, who is retiring as the principal accompanist of the Brenham Children's Chorus; and WHEREAS, The Brenham Children's Chorus was established in 2002; since its founding, the community-based program has brought a wealth of opportunities to children who have the desire to learn more about music and to share their talents with audiences across the nation; and WHEREAS, Martha Haydon has played piano and been a part of the music staff at Brenham's First Baptist Church for 40 years; she also serves her church as the handbell choir director, and she has taught at several private schools; and WHEREAS, Due to Martha's impressive talents and musical expertise, she has played an integral role in the success of the Brenham Children's Chorus; she has generously given her time and energy to the members of the chorus, and she has helped instill in them a sense of pride in their many accomplishments; and WHEREAS, The Brenham Children's Chorus and the Brenham community have greatly benefited from the work of this talented accompanist, and her presence with the chorus will be greatly missed; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby commend Martha Haydon for her many contributions to the Brenham Children's Chorus and extend to her best wishes in all her future endeavors; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
