SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 439
WHEREAS, February 15, 2017, marked the 70th wedding
anniversary of Franklin and Marjorie Willis of Mineola, and this
joyous event provides a fitting opportunity to reflect on their
rewarding journey together as husband and wife; and
WHEREAS, Franklin Willis Jr. and the former Marjorie
Boozer were joined in matrimony in 1947; over the years, they
have been blessed with a treasured family that includes their
children, Linda Tileston, Debbie Wickert, Harold Willis, and
Cindy Nelson, as well as 8 grandchildren and 14
great-grandchildren; and
WHEREAS, Respected members of their community, Mr. Willis
is retired from the Texas Highway Department and Mrs. Willis was
employed with the Mineola Veterinary Clinic and a local dental
office; they are valued congregants of Hainesville Baptist
Church; and
WHEREAS, The seven decades of marriage that Mr. and
Mrs. Willis have shared is eloquent affirmation of the meaning of
love and commitment, and their enduring union is an inspiration
to all who know them; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby congratulate Franklin and Marjorie Willis on
their 70th wedding anniversary and extend to them sincere best
wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
the couple as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
