| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | join the citizens of Stephenville in celebrating March 21, 2017, |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | as Stephenville Day at the State Capitol; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Stephenville, the seat of Erath County, is a |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | vibrant community in North Central Texas; the city has |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | experienced a 30 percent growth in population since 2000 and is |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | currently home to more than 22,500 residents; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, The Stephenville community is a popular Texas hub |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | for cowboys and cowgirls; relative to size, the city hosts one of |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | the largest populations of these professionals, and it has become |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | known as the "Cowboy Capital of the World"; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Although cowboy culture is a driving force of the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | city, Stephenville also boasts a flourishing academic community; |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | Tarleton State University contributes greatly to the economic |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | stability of the region, with approximately 9,600 students and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | 925 full-time faculty and staff members who reside in the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | community; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, The people of Stephenville have worked hard to |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | sustain their vibrant community over the years, and they can |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | indeed look forward to a bright and prosperous future while |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | embracing their rich and colorful past; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Legislature, hereby commend the citizens of Stephenville for |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | their many contributions to our state and extend to them best |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | wishes in all their future endeavors; and, be it further |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | the city as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
