| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the members and alumni of Leadership Grapevine on the |

| 4 | 4 | | occasion of their March 29, 2017, visit to the Capitol; and |

| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The members of this exemplary group contribute |

| 6 | 6 | | greatly to the betterment of their community through their |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | outstanding civic engagement; Leadership Grapevine is a |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | nine-month program sponsored by the City of Grapevine and the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | local chamber of commerce; the program offers opportunities for |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | participants to increase their knowledge of important local, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | regional, and state issues and to meet with leaders who are |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | making policy decisions that affect their communities; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Designed to inspire a spirit of activism, the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | program provides its diverse membership with training in |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | leadership, opportunities for networking, and insight from |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | knowledgeable people in both the public and private sectors; |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | topics covered include municipal government, the school |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | district, economic development, and historical preservation; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Through its efforts to develop a new generation of |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | leaders and to build a more informed and involved citizenry, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Leadership Grapevine is playing an important role in creating a |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | brighter and more promising future for our state; now, therefore, |

| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend the members and alumni of Leadership |

| 26 | 26 | | Grapevine for their civic leadership and volunteerism and extend |

| 27 | 27 | | to them best wishes for a memorable visit to the Capitol; and, be |
