| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Alpha Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha |

| 4 | 4 | | Sorority, Incorporated, on the grand occasion of its 2017 |

| 5 | 5 | | Founders' Day Luncheon on February 4; and |

| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, The Alpha Xi Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Alpha Sorority was established on June 6, 1929; through programs |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | of service, the chapter has long worked to encourage young women |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | to develop high standards of character and to strive for excellence |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | in educational achievement; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, The Alpha Xi Omega Chapter serves as an example of |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | excellence within the sorority, and its members are committed to |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | implementing quality programs that benefit the community and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | actively promote the goals of the distinguished sorority; from |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | its inception, the chapter has given scholarships to Dallas |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | students and provided social services for women and children; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The 2017 Founders' Day Luncheon is an opportunity |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | to reflect on the sorority's rich history and to pay tribute to |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | the many great women of the Alpha Xi Omega Chapter who have helped |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | the organization continue to fulfill its mission of service; now, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Alpha Xi Omega |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, for their |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | many contributions to society and extend to them best wishes for |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | a memorable 2017 Founders' Day Luncheon; and, be it further |

| 27 | 27 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
