SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 454
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize Nancy Hurt Tovar for her exemplary career in education
and for her many contributions to the Texas Elementary Principals
and Supervisors Association; and
WHEREAS, Nancy Tovar is a proud El Paso educator with deep
roots in the El Paso Independent School District; her parents,
Hampton and Toni Hurt, were also educators for the district, and
they instilled in her a strong commitment to community leadership
and educational excellence; and
WHEREAS, Nancy began her career with the district as an
elementary school teacher before becoming an assistant principal;
she went on to serve as an elementary school principal, and
during her nine years of leadership at Western Hills Elementary
School, she supervised the school's reconstruction project,
which included the construction of a 78,000-square-foot,
state-of-the-art educational facility; and
WHEREAS, Nancy has been actively involved with the Texas
Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association throughout her
career as an educational administrator; she served as the Region
19 president for two years, and she began her tenure on the
association's State Executive Committee in 2013; this year,
Nancy is serving as the 2016-2017 state president of the
6,000-member association; and
WHEREAS, Nancy Tovar exemplifies the highest ideals of
educational leadership, and she has expanded the opportunities
available to the many children who call Texas home; she is indeed
deserving of recognition for her most recent accomplishments and
for her dedication to improving the lives of elementary school
students; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby commend Nancy Hurt Tovar for her many
contributions to her community and to the state and extend to her
best wishes for a successful term as president of the Texas
Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association; and, be it
further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
