| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Nancy Hurt Tovar for her exemplary career in education |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | and for her many contributions to the Texas Elementary Principals |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | and Supervisors Association; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Tovar is a proud El Paso educator with deep |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | roots in the El Paso Independent School District; her parents, |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Hampton and Toni Hurt, were also educators for the district, and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | they instilled in her a strong commitment to community leadership |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | and educational excellence; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Nancy began her career with the district as an |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | elementary school teacher before becoming an assistant principal; |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | she went on to serve as an elementary school principal, and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | during her nine years of leadership at Western Hills Elementary |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | School, she supervised the school's reconstruction project, |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | which included the construction of a 78,000-square-foot, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | state-of-the-art educational facility; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, Nancy has been actively involved with the Texas |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association throughout her |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | career as an educational administrator; she served as the Region |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | 19 president for two years, and she began her tenure on the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | association's State Executive Committee in 2013; this year, |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Nancy is serving as the 2016-2017 state president of the |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | 6,000-member association; and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | WHEREAS, Nancy Tovar exemplifies the highest ideals of |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | educational leadership, and she has expanded the opportunities |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | available to the many children who call Texas home; she is indeed |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | deserving of recognition for her most recent accomplishments and |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | for her dedication to improving the lives of elementary school |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | students; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | Legislature, hereby commend Nancy Hurt Tovar for her many |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | contributions to her community and to the state and extend to her |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | best wishes for a successful term as president of the Texas |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association; and, be it |
