1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 462
2	2	WHEREAS, Jeffrey Patrick Morris is stepping down as the
3	3	state chair of the Young Conservatives of Texas at the group's
4	4	37th annual state convention on April 8, 2017, drawing to a close
5	5	more than five years of exemplary service; and
6	6	WHEREAS, Young Conservatives of Texas is a nonpartisan and
7	7	independent youth organization dedicated to protecting the
8	8	rights outlined in the Declaration of Independence and the United
9	9	States Constitution and promoting such principles as limited
10	10	government, state sovereignty, free enterprise, and a strong
11	11	national defense; the group has been especially active on college
12	12	campuses, inspiring young people to become involved in politics
13	13	and advocating for conservative candidates during primary and
14	14	general elections; and
15	15	WHEREAS, An Eagle Scout and a graduate of Rowlett High
16	16	School, Mr. Morris earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in
17	17	business administration and his master of science degree in
18	18	management information systems from the Rawls College of
19	19	Business at Texas Tech University; he was also a founding member
20	20	of the Texas Tech chapter of the Collegiate Entrepreneurs'
21	21	Organization and webmaster of the Texas Tech chapter of the
22	22	Association of Information Technology Professionals; since 2011,
23	23	he has been an SQL server business intelligence specialist at the
24	24	Argo software company in Richardson; and
25	25	WHEREAS, Mr. Morris first served the organization as
26	26	finance director from April to September 2010, and he went on to
27	27	hold the posts of Texas Tech chapter chair from 2010 to 2011 and
28	28	technology director from 2010 to 2011; in November 2011, he
29	29	became the organization's 23rd chair, and in that capacity, he
30	30	has overseen its media relations, chapter development, and
31	31	legislative rating program; moreover, he has raised funds for the
32	32	group, managed its finances, planned the annual convention, and
33	33	organized volunteer support for conservative candidates across
34	34	the state; and
35	35	WHEREAS, Mr. Morris's leadership, dedication, and
36	36	commitment to conservative ideals have greatly benefited the
37	37	Young Conservatives of Texas and earned him the respect and
38	38	admiration of its members, and he may reflect with pride on his
39	39	notable record of achievement as the organization's chair; now,
40	40	therefore, be it
41	41	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
42	42	Legislature, hereby congratulate Jeffrey Patrick Morris on his
43	43	service as state chair of the Young Conservatives of Texas and
44	44	extend to him sincere best wishes for continued success and
45	45	happiness; and, be it further
46	46	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
47	47	Mr. Morris as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
