| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | citizens of Saginaw in mourning the loss of Mollie Ann Newcom, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | who died March 11, 2017, at the age of 82; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Mollie Newcom was born on August 11, 1934, in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Thornton, Texas; she graduated from Temple High School, and she |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | continued her academics at Temple Junior College; she went on to |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | earn a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | secondary education from the University of North Texas; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, Mrs. Newcom had a rewarding 30-year career as an |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | English instructor in both secondary and higher education |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | classrooms; she was a spirited teacher who found immense |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | fulfillment working with young people, and she was inducted into |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the Miss Texas Hall of Honor for her work with young women |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | throughout Texas; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | shared 63 years of marriage with Max Newcom, and she was |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | blessed with three children, eight grandchildren, and five |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Mollie Newcom was guided in all things by her |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | faith; she taught the Love Class at the First Baptist Church in |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Saginaw, and she treasured her friends in the Christian Women's |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Club; she was a beloved member of her community, and she leaves |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | behind memories that will long be cherished by all who were |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | privileged to share in her life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | family of Mollie Ann Newcom; and, be it further |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
