| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, Members of several area fire departments responded |

| 3 | 3 | | swiftly and courageously to a structure fire that broke out in |

| 4 | 4 | | the city of Balch Springs on February 24, 2017; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, During the early evening, the Balch Springs Fire |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | Department was called to put out a fire that had enveloped a |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | pallet factory and spread to two other businesses; Balch Springs |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | firefighters then requested the aid of the Dallas, Dallas County, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Mesquite, Combine, Seagoville, and Sunnyvale Fire Departments, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | which converged on the scene to help battle the massive blaze; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Thanks to the tremendous support provided by |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | these crews, the fire was successfully extinguished in a few |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | hours with no loss of life and only minor injuries to two |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | firefighters; the Balch Springs Fire Department also received |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | help from the Texas State Fire Marshal's Office in investigating |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | the cause of the fire; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, In answering an urgent call for assistance, these |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | exemplary first responders demonstrated their unwavering |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | commitment to protecting the lives and property of their fellow |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Texans, and they may indeed take pride in a job well done; now, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | therefore, be it |

| 22 | 22 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Legislature, hereby commend the personnel of the Balch Springs, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Dallas, Dallas County, Mesquite, Combine, Seagoville, and |

| 25 | 25 | | Sunnyvale Fire Departments and the Texas State Fire Marshal's |
