| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Bobby G. Yancey, who died March 6, 2017, |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | at the age of 81; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Bobby Yancey was born on September 17, 1935, in |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Magnolia; he graduated from Montgomery High School in 1954 and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | from Sam Houston State University in 1958; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Yancey was elected to serve as justice of the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | peace and county commissioner for Montgomery County; at the time, |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | he was the youngest judge to have ever been elected in the State |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | of Texas, and he served with distinction from 1960 to 1970; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Bobby also enjoyed a life of entrepreneurial |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | success; in 1969, he opened Conroe Concrete, a company that is still |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | running strong today; in 1990, he purchased Hockley Livestock, |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | and he operated the business until 2000; he spent the last 20 years |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | of his life ranching in Limestone, Falls, and Houston Counties; and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Yancey shared 60 years of marriage with Jo Ann |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Yancey, and they were blessed with four children, 11 grandchildren, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | and five great-grandchildren; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, A distinguished member of his community, Bobby |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Yancey touched the lives of others through his kindness, his |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | humor, and his boundless generosity; he was beloved by many, and |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | he leaves behind memories that will long be cherished by all who |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | were privileged to share in his life; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | family of Bobby G. Yancey; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | memory of Bobby Yancey. |
