1	1	SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 478
2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	welcome members of the Texas Retired Teachers Association who are
4	4	gathering in Austin on March 29, 2017, as part of Texas Retired
5	5	Teachers Week; and
6	6	WHEREAS, Texas takes great pride in the state's public
7	7	educators and in the invaluable service they provide to citizens;
8	8	the Texas Retired Teachers Association was established to
9	9	represent the state's many retired public educators, and this
10	10	year, the association is celebrating Texas Retired Teachers Week
11	11	March 27 through 31; and
12	12	WHEREAS, The 80,000 members of the Texas Retired Teachers
13	13	Association continually work to improve local communities and
14	14	have engaged in more than six million hours of volunteer service
15	15	at schools and in educational programs throughout the state; many
16	16	retired educators continue to promote lifelong learning in
17	17	schools through the Children's Book Project, an endeavor that has
18	18	provided more than 800,000 books to Texas children; and
19	19	WHEREAS, Members of the Texas Retired Teachers Association
20	20	work diligently to protect the interests of current and future
21	21	public education retirees in Texas, and they are indeed deserving
22	22	of recognition for their support of Texas public educators and
23	23	their contributions to local communities and the state; now,
24	24	therefore, be it
25	25	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
26	26	Legislature, hereby commend all associated with the Texas
27	27	Retired Teachers Association and extend to them best wishes for a
28	28	memorable Texas Retired Teachers Association Day at the State
29	29	Capitol; and, be it further
30	30	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
31	31	the association as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
