| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Golden Soror Constance Washington, a 50-year member of |

| 4 | 4 | | Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, who is being honored by |

| 5 | 5 | | the Alpha Xi Omega Chapter at its 2017 Founders' Day Luncheon on |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | February 4; and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | WHEREAS, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority was established at |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | Howard University in 1908; through programs of service, the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | sorority has long worked to encourage young women to develop high |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | standards of character and to strive for excellence in |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | educational achievement; the Alpha Xi Omega Chapter annually |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | recognizes long-standing members of the sorority at its |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Founders' Day Luncheon; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, For 50 years, Constance Washington has remained a |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | loyal Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority member, and she has served as a |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | mentor and role model to countless sisters; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, Constance Washington is truly deserving of |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | recognition for her longtime membership in Alpha Kappa Alpha |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | Sorority and for the important role she has played in helping the |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | sorority to fulfill its mission of encouraging high scholastic |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and ethical standards, promoting unity and friendship, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | addressing the concerns of girls and young women, and being of |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | service to all mankind; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend Golden Soror Constance Washington on |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | her dedicated service and her many achievements and extend to her |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | congratulations on being honored by the Alpha Xi Omega Chapter of |

| 28 | 28 | | Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority at its 2017 Founders' Day Luncheon; |
