SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 505 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to recognize the 183rd Recon Aviation Company on the occasion of its 2017 reunion, which is being held in Bryan-College Station; and WHEREAS, The veterans of the 183rd Recon Aviation Company served with distinction in Vietnam from 1966 until the end of the war; members have created a nonprofit organization to preserve the company's history for future generations, to honor its lost members, and to renew and maintain the relationships forged during their wartime service; and WHEREAS, The company goes under the call sign "Seahorse"; during the war, eight of its members made the ultimate sacrifice for their nation, and one is still listed as missing in action; and WHEREAS, The 2017 reunion will feature a wide range of activities for members and their families, including a performance by the Texas A&M University Singing Cadets, visits to the Museum of the American G.I. and the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum, and a memorial service at the Brazos Valley Veterans Memorial; and WHEREAS, The members of the 183rd Recon Aviation Company are part of the long line of courageous men and women whose service and sacrifice have left a lasting mark on the world, and it is truly fitting that they receive special recognition; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby commend the members of the 183rd Recon Aviation Company on their exceptional service to the nation and extend to them best wishes for a memorable 2017 reunion; and, be it further RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the company as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
