| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Rural Water Association is holding its |

| 3 | 3 | | 48th annual convention in Austin from March 29 through March 31, |

| 4 | 4 | | 2017, and convention participants are gathering at the State |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | Capitol on March 29 to celebrate Texas Rural Water Day; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1969, the Texas Rural Water |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Association is a statewide trade organization with an active |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | membership of more than 750 nonprofit water supply corporations, |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | small-town water departments, special utility districts, |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | municipal utility districts, investor-owned utilities, and water |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | control and improvement districts that serve approximately 2.5 |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | million people; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, The Texas Rural Water Association is dedicated to |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | helping directors, managers, and operators provide efficient |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | service and clean, safe drinking water; it also encourages |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | education and information exchange, offers member support |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | services, and handles legislative and regulatory representation; |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | moreover, the association advocates reasonable, practical, and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | affordable rules regarding rural and small water and wastewater |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | systems; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, For more than 45 years, the Texas Rural Water |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | Association has done its best to "Keep Texas Rural" by ensuring |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | access to safe and affordable water and wastewater systems for |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | those who produce food and fiber and for communities in every part |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | of the Lone Star State, and Texas Rural Water Day provides a fitting |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | opportunity to commend the association and its member organizations |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | for their valuable public service; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby recognize March 29, 2017, as Texas Rural |

| 30 | 30 | | Water Day at the State Capitol and extend to members of the Texas |

| 31 | 31 | | Rural Water Association sincere best wishes for a memorable and |
