5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
---|
6 | 6 | | citizens of Brownwood in mourning the loss of Joe H. Robbins, who |
---|
7 | 7 | | died March 8, 2017, at the age of 84; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Joe Robbins was born on August 19, 1932, in Brown |
---|
9 | 9 | | County; he was a beloved member of his community who touched the |
---|
10 | 10 | | lives of those who knew him with his wisdom, his warmth, and his |
---|
11 | 11 | | dedicated service to others; and |
---|
12 | 12 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Robbins served with distinction in the United |
---|
13 | 13 | | States Navy during the Korean War; he later joined the Brownwood |
---|
14 | 14 | | Police Department, where he worked diligently on behalf of |
---|
15 | 15 | | citizens for 41 years; during his exemplary career, he held every |
---|
16 | 16 | | position on the police force, and he was honored to have served as |
---|
17 | 17 | | the Brownwood chief of police for six years; and |
---|
18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, A man of deep spiritual devotion, Mr. Robbins was |
---|
19 | 19 | | a longtime member and deacon of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church; he |
---|
20 | 20 | | was an avid fan of the Brownwood Lions, and he had served as a |
---|
21 | 21 | | member and former president of the Brownwood Independent School |
---|
22 | 22 | | District Board of Trustees; and |
---|
23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Above all things, Mr. Robbins cherished his |
---|
24 | 24 | | family; he shared 61 years of marriage with Clara Robbins, and he |
---|
25 | 25 | | found immense joy spending time with his children and |
---|
26 | 26 | | grandchildren; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | WHEREAS, Joe Robbins was respected and admired throughout |
---|
28 | 28 | | the community, and he leaves behind memories that will long be |
---|
29 | 29 | | cherished by all who were privileged to share in his life; now, |
---|
30 | 30 | | therefore, be it |
---|
31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
---|
32 | 32 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
33 | 33 | | family of Joe Robbins; and, be it further |
---|
34 | 34 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
---|
35 | 35 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
---|
36 | 36 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
