55 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
66 citizens of Brownwood in mourning the loss of Joe H. Robbins, who
77 died March 8, 2017, at the age of 84; and
88 WHEREAS, Joe Robbins was born on August 19, 1932, in Brown
99 County; he was a beloved member of his community who touched the
1010 lives of those who knew him with his wisdom, his warmth, and his
1111 dedicated service to others; and
1212 WHEREAS, Mr. Robbins served with distinction in the United
1313 States Navy during the Korean War; he later joined the Brownwood
1414 Police Department, where he worked diligently on behalf of
1515 citizens for 41 years; during his exemplary career, he held every
1616 position on the police force, and he was honored to have served as
1717 the Brownwood chief of police for six years; and
1818 WHEREAS, A man of deep spiritual devotion, Mr. Robbins was
1919 a longtime member and deacon of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church; he
2020 was an avid fan of the Brownwood Lions, and he had served as a
2121 member and former president of the Brownwood Independent School
2222 District Board of Trustees; and
2323 WHEREAS, Above all things, Mr. Robbins cherished his
2424 family; he shared 61 years of marriage with Clara Robbins, and he
2525 found immense joy spending time with his children and
2626 grandchildren; and
2727 WHEREAS, Joe Robbins was respected and admired throughout
2828 the community, and he leaves behind memories that will long be
2929 cherished by all who were privileged to share in his life; now,
3030 therefore, be it
3131 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
3232 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
3333 family of Joe Robbins; and, be it further
3434 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
3535 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
3636 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
3737 memory of Joe H. Robbins.
