SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 522
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
recognize the Reverend Joseph Baker, who is being honored with a
Religion Award from Acres Home Chamber for Business and Economic
Development, Incorporated, at its 28th annual Awards Banquet on
March 31, 2017; and
WHEREAS, The Acres Home Chamber for Business and Economic
Development was founded in 1994 to promote the economic vitality
of the Acres Homes community; the nonprofit organization provides
a variety of programs, seminars, workshops, and professional
development opportunities to the community with the goal of helping
individuals, small businesses, and entrepreneurs continue on paths
to success; and
WHEREAS, Each year, the organization hosts an awards
banquet to honor area citizens who deserve recognition for their
exceptional work on behalf of the Acres Homes community; and
WHEREAS, Joseph Baker moved to Acres Homes as a young boy
in the 1940s; he accepted his call into the ministry 36 years ago,
and he has been pastoring at Guiding Light Inspirational Baptist
Church for 25 years; Pastor Baker is committed to serving local
families, and he has drawn from his personal experiences to
minister faithfully and compassionately to the needs of all those
in the community; and
WHEREAS, A truly exemplary citizen, Pastor Baker represents
the highest ideals of civic engagement, and he can indeed take
pride in his outstanding spiritual leadership; now, therefore,
be it
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
Legislature, hereby commend the Reverend Joseph Baker for helping to
make the Acres Homes community an inviting place in which to live
and work and congratulate him on receiving a Religion Award from
the Acres Home Chamber for Business and Economic Development;
and, be it further
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for him
as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
