5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the |
---|
6 | 6 | | citizens of Navasota in mourning the loss of John Millard Fultz, |
---|
7 | 7 | | who died March 20, 2017, at the age of 66; and |
---|
8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, John Fultz was born on August 4, 1950; he touched |
---|
9 | 9 | | the lives of others with his warmth, his boundless generosity, |
---|
10 | 10 | | and his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest; and |
---|
11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, He graduated as the salutatorian of the Navasota |
---|
12 | 12 | | High School Class of 1968, and he went on to graduate from The |
---|
13 | 13 | | University of Texas at Austin in 1972 and from the South Texas |
---|
14 | 14 | | College of Law in 1977; and |
---|
15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Fultz returned to Navasota in 1978 to practice |
---|
16 | 16 | | law with his mother and stepfather at Fultz and Davis Attorneys at |
---|
17 | 17 | | Law, and later, he continued his family's legacy by serving as |
---|
18 | 18 | | counsel for Mid-South Electric Cooperative Association; he was a |
---|
19 | 19 | | Fellow of the Texas Bar Association and a member of the Grimes |
---|
20 | 20 | | County Bar Association, and he served as the city attorney for the |
---|
21 | 21 | | Cities of Todd Mission and Navasota; and |
---|
22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, A distinguished member of his community, Mr. Fultz |
---|
23 | 23 | | was active in numerous civic and community organizations, |
---|
24 | 24 | | including the Masonic Navasota Lodge, the Scottish Rite Lodge, the |
---|
25 | 25 | | Navasota Theater Alliance, and Kiwanis International; he was a man |
---|
26 | 26 | | guided by his faith, and he served as treasurer and deacon at the |
---|
27 | 27 | | First Baptist Church of Navasota; and |
---|
28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, John Fultz was devoted to his wife, Kathy, and to |
---|
29 | 29 | | his children and grandchildren, and he cherished time spent with |
---|
30 | 30 | | his family; he was beloved by many, and he leaves behind memories |
---|
31 | 31 | | that will long be held dear by all who were privileged to share in |
---|
32 | 32 | | his life; now, therefore, be it |
---|
33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
---|
34 | 34 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
---|
35 | 35 | | family of John Millard Fultz; and, be it further |
---|
36 | 36 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
---|
37 | 37 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
---|
38 | 38 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
---|
39 | 39 | | memory of John Fultz. |
