| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | join Texans across the state in celebrating January 30, 2017, as |

| 4 | 4 | | Texas Capitol Schoolhouse Day; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, A Texas Capitol Schoolhouse event has been held at |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | the beginning of every legislative session since 1995; the |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | activities and exhibits at these events demonstrate how |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | educational technology funding is being used to improve the |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | state's public schools; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The 2017 participants are from the Coleman, |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Coppell, Deer Park, Denton, Klein, New Braunfels, Pasadena, San |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | Saba, Temple, and Ysleta Independent School Districts and from |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | the Texas School for the Deaf; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, During Texas Capitol Schoolhouse Day, students |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | and teachers from the various districts set up classrooms in the |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Capitol and conduct normal classes in order to demonstrate the |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | role of educational technology in Texas schools; this year's |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | students are exhibiting their skills in such fields as robotics |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | engineering, coding, digital portfolios, rocket engineering, and |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | virtual reality animation; and |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | WHEREAS, Texas Capitol Schoolhouse Day provides an |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | opportunity for legislators and other state officials to observe |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | firsthand how state funding for educational technology is |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | providing students with the resources they need to succeed and |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | thrive in today's complex world; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby commend the participants in the 2017 Texas |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Capitol Schoolhouse Day on their commitment to excellence in |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | education and extend to all best wishes for a memorable and |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | successful event; and, be it further |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in |
