8	8	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
9	9	commemorates the lives of Captain Jonathan J. Golden, Captain
10	10	Jordan B. Pierson, Staff Sergeant Ryan D. Hammond, and Senior
11	11	Airman Quinn L. Johnson-Harris, who died bravely in the line of
12	12	duty on October 2, 2015; and
13	13	WHEREAS, These distinguished members of the United States
14	14	Air Force were deployed to Afghanistan from the 317th Airlift
15	15	Group at Dyess Air Force Base near Abilene; they were among six
16	16	service members and five civilians who lost their lives when
17	17	their C-130J crashed during initial take-off from Jalalabad
18	18	Airfield, Afghanistan; and
19	19	WHEREAS, Captain Golden, a 33-year-old resident of
20	20	Camarillo, California, and Captain Pierson, a 28-year-old
21	21	resident of Abilene, Texas, both served as pilots; Staff Sergeant
22	22	Hammond, a 26-year-old resident of Moundsville, West Virginia,
23	23	and Senior Airman Johnson-Harris, a 21-year-old resident of
24	24	Milwaukee, Wisconsin, served as loadmasters; each of these
25	25	outstanding servicemen performed their duties with the utmost
26	26	diligence and dedication; and
27	27	WHEREAS, The Abilene Chamber of Commerce is working in
28	28	cooperation with the air force to honor the sacrifices of these
29	29	exemplary men with a commemorative expansion to the Dyess
30	30	Memorial Park; the steadfast resolve and patriotism of these
31	31	servicemen and their sacrifice on behalf of their country will
32	32	not be forgotten; now, therefore, be it
33	33	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
34	34	Legislature, hereby honor the lives of Captain Jonathan
35	35	J. Golden, Captain Jordan B. Pierson, Staff Sergeant Ryan
36	36	D. Hammond, and Senior Airman Quinn L. Johnson-Harris and extend
37	37	sincere condolences to their families and loved ones; and, be
38	38	it further
39	39	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
40	40	their honor and as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
