88 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
99 commemorates the lives of Captain Jonathan J. Golden, Captain
1010 Jordan B. Pierson, Staff Sergeant Ryan D. Hammond, and Senior
1111 Airman Quinn L. Johnson-Harris, who died bravely in the line of
1212 duty on October 2, 2015; and
1313 WHEREAS, These distinguished members of the United States
1414 Air Force were deployed to Afghanistan from the 317th Airlift
1515 Group at Dyess Air Force Base near Abilene; they were among six
1616 service members and five civilians who lost their lives when
1717 their C-130J crashed during initial take-off from Jalalabad
1818 Airfield, Afghanistan; and
1919 WHEREAS, Captain Golden, a 33-year-old resident of
2020 Camarillo, California, and Captain Pierson, a 28-year-old
2121 resident of Abilene, Texas, both served as pilots; Staff Sergeant
2222 Hammond, a 26-year-old resident of Moundsville, West Virginia,
2323 and Senior Airman Johnson-Harris, a 21-year-old resident of
2424 Milwaukee, Wisconsin, served as loadmasters; each of these
2525 outstanding servicemen performed their duties with the utmost
2626 diligence and dedication; and
2727 WHEREAS, The Abilene Chamber of Commerce is working in
2828 cooperation with the air force to honor the sacrifices of these
2929 exemplary men with a commemorative expansion to the Dyess
3030 Memorial Park; the steadfast resolve and patriotism of these
3131 servicemen and their sacrifice on behalf of their country will
3232 not be forgotten; now, therefore, be it
3333 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
3434 Legislature, hereby honor the lives of Captain Jonathan
3535 J. Golden, Captain Jordan B. Pierson, Staff Sergeant Ryan
3636 D. Hammond, and Senior Airman Quinn L. Johnson-Harris and extend
3737 sincere condolences to their families and loved ones; and, be
3838 it further
3939 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in
4040 their honor and as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
