| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize the Texas Cavaliers for their exceptional contributions |

| 4 | 4 | | to the San Antonio community and to honor Dr. Michael Casillas on |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | the occasion of his coronation as King Antonio XCV; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1926, the Texas Cavaliers are an |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | association of more than 500 business, civic, and community |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | leaders who work to promote and preserve the spirit of courage |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | and independence demonstrated by the heroes of the Alamo; in |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | 1989, the group developed the Texas Cavaliers Charitable |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Foundation to benefit vulnerable local children, and over the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | last two decades, the organization has raised more than |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | $2 million in support of local children's programs; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, During Fiesta San Antonio, the Texas Cavaliers |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | facilitate the Children's River Extravaganza, the Military |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Fiesta, and the Salute to First Responders programs; since 1927, |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | the organization has selected a King from among its ranks to |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | preside over fiesta festivities; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, As the 95th King Antonio, Dr. Michael Casillas |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | will distribute more than $800,000 to children's charities in San |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | Antonio, and he will spread merriment at over 100 schools, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | nursing homes, and hospitals throughout the city; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, A distinguished steward of his community, |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Dr. Casillas exemplifies the highest ideals of a Texas Cavalier, |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | and he is being crowned King Antonio XCV in the presence of city |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | and military leaders at a ceremony on April 22, 2017; now, |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | therefore, be it |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Texas Cavaliers |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | for their many contributions to the San Antonio community and |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | congratulate Dr. Michael Casillas on being named King Antonio |
