| 3 | 3 | | recognize Hiawatha Williams for 30 years of entrepreneurial |

| 4 | 4 | | success as the founder and chief executive officer of Williams |

| 5 | 5 | | Chicken; and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | WHEREAS, Hiawatha Williams opened the first Williams |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | Chicken in 1987; today, the popular Dallas-based casual food |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | chain has 40 stores, including 20 franchises, and is responsible |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | for more than 500 employees in North Texas; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Mr. Williams has found entrepreneurial success |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | while upholding the highest standards of business ethics and |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | practices; he has promoted a philanthropic business model and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | fostered a culture among employees of giving back to the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | community by supporting a number of outreach programs and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | educational projects; and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | WHEREAS, A highly respected mentor to many and a true |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | business leader, Mr. Williams has been featured in numerous |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | publications and has shared his story on several television |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | programs; he is also frequently invited to talk with students, |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | and he is known for helping to inspire others to become |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | entrepreneurial pioneers; and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | WHEREAS, In celebration of three decades of success, |

| 23 | 23 | | Williams Chicken is hosting a special anniversary gala and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | benefit on April 21, 2017; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Legislature, hereby commend Hiawatha Williams on his thriving |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | business and on his many contributions to the Dallas community |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | and congratulate him on the 30th anniversary of Williams Chicken; |
