| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Dian Graves Owen Stai, who was inducted in 2016 into |

| 4 | 4 | | the Texas Business Hall of Fame; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Dian Stai has been a trailblazer over the course of |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | her distinguished career as a businesswoman; she was the first |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | chair of the Texas Department of Commerce, the first woman to chair |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | the Abilene Chamber of Commerce, and the cofounder and first board |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | chair of Owen Healthcare, Incorporated, one of the premier |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | hospital pharmacy management companies in the country; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, Under her exemplary leadership, Owen Healthcare |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | grew from a company valued at approximately $1 million in 1976 to |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | a company worth $500 million at the time of its 1997 merger with |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Cardinal Health, Incorporated; it had expanded its range of |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | operations from pharmacy management to include materials |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | management, home infusion services, automated medication |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | dispensing systems, and other health care services; and |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | WHEREAS, After selling the company, she dedicated herself |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | to addressing social concerns and established the Dian Graves |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | Owen Foundation, a philanthropic organization that has |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | distributed more than $85 million to various institutions and |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | worthy projects; her many accolades include being named the 1992 |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Houston Regional Entrepreneur of the Year by the Women's Support |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | Business Network and receiving national recognition on multiple |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | occasions as one of the top 25 businesswomen in America by |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Working Woman and Savvy magazines; she was a 1996 inductee into |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | the Texas Women's Hall of Fame; and |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | WHEREAS, She has served on the boards of such organizations |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | as the West Texas Rehabilitation Center, the United Way of |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Abilene, Saint John's Episcopal School, and the Texas Chamber of |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Commerce, and it is truly fitting that she receive special |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 34 | 34 | | Legislature, hereby commend Dian Graves Owen Stai on her |
|---|
| 35 | 35 | | outstanding achievements and extend congratulations to her on her |
|---|
| 36 | 36 | | induction into the Texas Business Hall of Fame; and, be it further |

| 37 | 37 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
