2	2	WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
3	3	recognize the ninth class of the Senator Gregory Luna Legislative
4	4	Scholars and Fellows Program; and
5	5	WHEREAS, This exemplary program is conducted by the Senate
6	6	Hispanic Research Council and is named in honor of the late
7	7	Senator Gregory Luna, who dedicated his life to public service
8	8	and to fighting for educational equity; and
9	9	WHEREAS, A tribute to Senator Luna's legacy and his
10	10	admirable work in the Senate, this prestigious program was
11	11	created to provide undergraduate and graduate students from
12	12	across the state with professional opportunities to gain
13	13	experience by serving as full-time assistants to legislators in
14	14	the Texas Senate; the program is designed to help students
15	15	acquire the skills necessary to become successful leaders in our
16	16	great state; and
17	17	WHEREAS, The members of the ninth class of the Senator
18	18	Gregory Luna Legislative Scholars and Fellows Program have
19	19	demonstrated outstanding dedication and hard work in Senate
20	20	offices throughout the session; students of the ninth class are
21	21	Jaqlyn Alderete of El Paso, serving in the office of Senator
22	22	Eddie Lucio Jr.; Courtney Broderick of Arlington, serving in the
23	23	office of Senator Sylvia Garcia; Zachary Cochran of Rockport,
24	24	serving in the office of Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick; Jesse
25	25	Guadiana of Irving, serving in the office of Senator John
26	26	Whitmire; Grace Hopkins of San Antonio, serving in the office of
27	27	Senator Jose Menéndez; Jesus Perales Tovar III of Beaumont,
28	28	serving in the office of Senator José Rodríguez; Jacob Rafael
29	29	Peña of Allen, serving in the office of Senator Judith Zaffirini;
30	30	and Julia Rose Von Alexander of Austin, serving in the office of
31	31	Senator Carlos Uresti; now, therefore, be it
32	32	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
33	33	Legislature, hereby commend the members of the ninth class of the
34	34	Senator Gregory Luna Legislative Scholars and Fellows Program on
35	35	their remarkable service and outstanding work over the course of
36	36	the legislative session and extend to them best wishes for
37	37	continued success as they prepare to become the future leaders of
38	38	our state; and, be it further
39	39	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
40	40	them as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
