| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Billie Hopps for 40 years of exemplary service with the |

| 4 | 4 | | Keene Independent School District; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Billie Hopps is the principal of Keene Junior |

| 6 | 6 | | High; she is beloved by students for her humor, kindness, and |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | tireless support and admired by teachers and staff for her |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | innovative and enthusiastic approach to education and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | leadership; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, Under the guidance of Principal Hopps, Keene |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Junior High has received numerous awards and distinctions over |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | the years, and for the last two years, the school has led all |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Johnson County junior high schools in performance rankings; and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | WHEREAS, Principal Hopps is a highly respected school |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | administrator who engages with students daily and knows each of them |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | by name; overcoming her own struggles with adversity has helped her |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | instill in students the strength and resilience they need to build |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | fulfilling futures and succeed in the modern world; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Principal Billie Hopps sets standards for |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | academic excellence and fosters a school-wide love of learning |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | that allows both students and teachers to thrive, and the |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | citizens of Keene have greatly benefited from her expertise and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | commitment; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend Billie Hopps for 40 years of service |

| 26 | 26 | | to the children of Keene and extend to her best wishes for the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | future; and, be it further |
