| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Judge Victor Villarreal, who was appointed judge of |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | Webb County Court at Law II, effective April 14, 2017; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Judge Victor Villarreal is a native of Laredo and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | a graduate cum laude of Texas A&M International University; he |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | served internships at the National Science Foundation, the |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | United States Department of State, and the Texas House of |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | Representatives; he went on to earn a degree from The University |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | of Texas School of Law; and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | WHEREAS, While attending law school, Judge Villarreal |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | served as president of the Hispanic Law Students Association, and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | under his leadership, the association established the Dean |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Susana I. Aleman Scholarship at the law school; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, He returned to his hometown to practice law and |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | became a founding partner of Villarreal and Romero; he has held |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | multiple offices with the Texas Young Lawyers Association, and he |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | was instrumental in bringing the Texas Supreme Court to Laredo |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | for the first time in state history so that students interested |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | in the legal profession could observe the court at work; he has |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | also served as president of the Laredo-Webb County Bar Association, |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | and during his tenure, the association created the Barbara Kazen |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | Scholarship at Texas A&M International University; and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | WHEREAS, Judge Villarreal is noted for his thorough |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | knowledge of the law and his commitment to public service, and it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | is truly fitting that he receive special recognition as he |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | assumes the bench of Webb County Court at Law II; now, therefore, |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | be it |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby commend Judge Victor Villarreal on his many |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | achievements and extend to him congratulations on his appointment |
|---|
| 32 | 32 | | as judge of Webb County Court at Law II; and, be it further |

| 33 | 33 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
