                            SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 645
 In Memory
 of
 Reginald Stanley Kay
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
 commemorates the life of Reginald Stanley Kay, who died April 14,
 2017, at the age of 62; and
 WHEREAS, Stan Kay was born on October 25, 1954, in Bryan,
 to Walter Kay Jr. and Dr. Wauline Pierce Gamble; he graduated
 from La Vega High School in Waco, and he earned a degree from the
 University of North Texas, where he was a member of Alpha Phi
 Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated; he went on to serve his
 fraternity as president of the Alpha Sigma Lambda Chapter, and he
 was an active member of the Alpha Merit Group; and
 WHEREAS, He enjoyed a distinguished 35-year career in law
 enforcement as a member of the Dallas Police Department, and he
 earned the rank of lieutenant; he was also active in a wide range
 of community organizations, such as the March of Dimes and the
 American Red Cross; and
 WHEREAS, A devout Christian who practiced his faith in his
 daily life, he was a longtime member of New Birth Baptist Church,
 where he served on the usher board and as head of security; and
 WHEREAS, He took great pride in having raised his
 daughters, Rachel and Raquel, to become independent, successful
 women; he cherished the trips they took together with friends,
 and he was known for his outstanding tailgating parties during
 Dallas Cowboys games; and
 WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he
 gaveunselfishlytoothers,andhiswisdom,warmth,andvalued
 counsel will not be forgotten by his family and countless
 friends; and
 WHEREAS, He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother,
 and friend, and he leaves behind memories that will be cherished
 forever by all who were privileged to share in his life; now,
 therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
 family of Reginald Stanley Kay; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Stan Kay.
