| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Lockheed Martin Aeronautics, which is celebrating its |

| 4 | 4 | | 75th anniversary in 2017; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1941, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics |

| 6 | 6 | | has built a reputation for excellence through the exhaustive |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | research and innovative development of more than 10,000 |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | high-performance military aircraft, many of which have played an |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | important role in the defense of our nation; and |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | WHEREAS, The newest of the company's fifth-generation |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | fighters, the F-35 Lightning II, is a single-engine supersonic |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | multi-role stealth fighter designed to meet the combat |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | requirements of the United States Marine Corps, Air Force, and |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | Navy; the F-35 Lightning II program will perform key national |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | security functions, and the new aircraft will replace a wide |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | array of aging fighter jets; and |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | WHEREAS, The Lockheed Martin Corporation provides jobs to |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | more than 17,000 Texans at 50 facilities throughout the state, |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | and more than 9,000 Texans are employed in the aeronautics |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | division's F-35 program; the parent company helps generate |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | approximately $2.4 billion in revenue for nearly 1,300 suppliers |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | in Texas and creates more than 52,000 indirect jobs; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is an exemplary |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | corporate citizen that makes vital contributions to the economic |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | well-being of the Lone Star State and to the prosperity of all |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Texas citizens, and the F-35 Lightning II program continues the |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | company's proud history of military aviation innovation in |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | Texas; now, therefore, be it |

| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |

| 30 | 30 | | Legislature, hereby congratulate Lockheed Martin Aeronautics on |

| 31 | 31 | | its 75th anniversary and the success of the F-35 Lightning II |

| 32 | 32 | | program and extend to all associated with the company best wishes |
