                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 669
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to
 recognize Catholic War Veterans Post 1805 in Austin on the
 occasion of its 60th anniversary; and
 WHEREAS, The Catholic War Veterans of the United States of
 America was incorporated on May 19, 1935; it was officially
 recognized by the Veterans Administration in 1940, and it
 received a congressional charter in 1984; and
 WHEREAS, Catholic War Veterans Post 1805 was established
 at San Jose Catholic Church in 1957 by several veterans and by Joe
 Moreno Uriegas, who served in World War II as a member of the
 188th Field Artillery Battalion; the post's first chaplain was
 Colonel Joseph Kmiecik, with whom Mr. Uriegas had served in the
 military; and
 WHEREAS, Through the years, Post 1805 has sponsored countless
 fund-raising events that have benefited the community; a major
 focus of its efforts has been the provision of college
 scholarships to deserving students; and
 WHEREAS, Catholic War Veterans Post 1805 has been a
 valuable part of the fabric of life in Austin since its founding,
 and it is truly fitting that all associated with the post receive
 special recognition on the occasion of this milestone in the
 post's history; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
 Legislature, hereby commend the members of Catholic War Veterans
 Post 1805 on their commitment to helping veterans and to public
 service and extend to all best wishes for a memorable 60th
 anniversary celebration; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 the post as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
