| 2 | 2 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |

| 3 | 3 | | recognize Catholic War Veterans Post 1805 in Austin on the |
|---|
| 4 | 4 | | occasion of its 60th anniversary; and |
|---|
| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Catholic War Veterans of the United States of |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | America was incorporated on May 19, 1935; it was officially |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | recognized by the Veterans Administration in 1940, and it |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | received a congressional charter in 1984; and |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | WHEREAS, Catholic War Veterans Post 1805 was established |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | at San Jose Catholic Church in 1957 by several veterans and by Joe |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | Moreno Uriegas, who served in World War II as a member of the |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | 188th Field Artillery Battalion; the post's first chaplain was |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | Colonel Joseph Kmiecik, with whom Mr. Uriegas had served in the |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | military; and |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | WHEREAS, Through the years, Post 1805 has sponsored countless |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | fund-raising events that have benefited the community; a major |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | focus of its efforts has been the provision of college |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | scholarships to deserving students; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, Catholic War Veterans Post 1805 has been a |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | valuable part of the fabric of life in Austin since its founding, |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | and it is truly fitting that all associated with the post receive |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | special recognition on the occasion of this milestone in the |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | post's history; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Legislature, hereby commend the members of Catholic War Veterans |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | Post 1805 on their commitment to helping veterans and to public |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | service and extend to all best wishes for a memorable 60th |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | anniversary celebration; and, be it further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | the post as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
