                    SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 679
 In Memory
 of
 Juan Gonzales Sr.
 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
 commemorates the life of Juan Gonzales Sr., who died on
 January 29, 2017, at the age of 87; and
 WHEREAS, Juan Gonzales was born on June 25, 1929, in Punta
 del Monte, Texas, to Guadalupe and Sofia Gonzales; he and his
 beloved wife, Maria Guadalupe Gonzales, raised three daughters and
 four sons together, and they were blessed with 15 grandchildren,
 seven great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild; and
 WHEREAS, He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a
 cowboy, and he worked on ranches across South Texas, including
 the Punta del Monte Ranch, the El Sauz Ranch, and the Kenedy
 Ranch; he was known as a fearless bronc rider who was rarely
 thrown from a horse; he retired in 1990 as a KineƱo from the
 Norias Division of the King Ranch; and
 WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he
 gave generously to others, and his wisdom, his talent and work
 ethic, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will
 not be forgotten; and
 WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and
 grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured
 forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
 Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
 family of Juan Gonzales Sr.; and, be it further
 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
 his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
 Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
 memory of Juan Gonzales Sr.
