| 5 | 5 | | WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and |
|---|
| 6 | 6 | | commemorates the life of Juan Gonzales Sr., who died on |
|---|
| 7 | 7 | | January 29, 2017, at the age of 87; and |
|---|
| 8 | 8 | | WHEREAS, Juan Gonzales was born on June 25, 1929, in Punta |
|---|
| 9 | 9 | | del Monte, Texas, to Guadalupe and Sofia Gonzales; he and his |
|---|
| 10 | 10 | | beloved wife, Maria Guadalupe Gonzales, raised three daughters and |
|---|
| 11 | 11 | | four sons together, and they were blessed with 15 grandchildren, |
|---|
| 12 | 12 | | seven great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild; and |
|---|
| 13 | 13 | | WHEREAS, He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a |
|---|
| 14 | 14 | | cowboy, and he worked on ranches across South Texas, including |
|---|
| 15 | 15 | | the Punta del Monte Ranch, the El Sauz Ranch, and the Kenedy |
|---|
| 16 | 16 | | Ranch; he was known as a fearless bronc rider who was rarely |
|---|
| 17 | 17 | | thrown from a horse; he retired in 1990 as a Kineño from the |
|---|
| 18 | 18 | | Norias Division of the King Ranch; and |
|---|
| 19 | 19 | | WHEREAS, A man of courage, strength, and compassion, he |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | gave generously to others, and his wisdom, his talent and work |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | ethic, and his enthusiasm for living each day to the fullest will |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | not be forgotten; and |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | WHEREAS, He was a devoted husband, father, and |
|---|
| 24 | 24 | | grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it |
|---|
| 26 | 26 | | RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved |
|---|
| 28 | 28 | | family of Juan Gonzales Sr.; and, be it further |
|---|
| 29 | 29 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|---|
| 30 | 30 | | his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas |
|---|
| 31 | 31 | | Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in |
