SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 682 WHEREAS, Members of the Hopkins County Adult Leadership Class are visiting the State Capitol on May 7-9, 2017, and this occasion provides a fitting opportunity to recognize this notable group of civic leaders; and WHEREAS, Sponsored by the Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce, Hopkins County Adult Leadership was created to educate civic-minded individuals about city, county, and state government; the course lasts nine months and involves citizens representing a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives; and WHEREAS, Hopkins County Leadership works in cooperation with such entities as the Sulphur Springs Independent School District Board, Hopkins County Law Enforcement, Hopkins County Memorial Hospital, county commissioners, and local businesses to sponsor different programs every month to help members gain a better understanding of the community; and WHEREAS, Each Hopkins County Adult Leadership class chooses a special project to benefit the community; this year, the group is working to provide the City of Sulphur Springs with a sign for announcements and events; and WHEREAS, Through its efforts to promote a spirit of volunteerism and community pride, the Hopkins County Adult Leadership Class is fostering an informed and engaged citizenry, and the program is helping to build a brighter and more prosperous future for the Lone Star State; now, therefore, be it RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th Legislature, hereby recognize May 7-9, 2017, as Hopkins County Adult Leadership Days at the State Capitol and extend to all those participating sincere best wishes for a memorable and enjoyable visit.
